The iPad - Revolutionary Or Just Another Fad?

In a world full of PDA's, Smart Phones, Netbooks and more, do we really need yet another device on the market?

The Apple iPad claims to be different. And when you first see it, you can't help but notice it's size: at 9.5 & 7.5 inches, it certainly is big. Bigger than all the other rivals on the market.
But when the others are smaller and easier to carry, do we want something so big?

Ask a 99 year old woman from Oregon, USA who had never touched a computer, laptop, mobile phone or surfed the net. The iPad has literally transformed her life. She was a prolific reader and writer until glaucoma stopped her but the iPads size and settings allow her to read again.

It would appear that the iPad appeals across the generations and is taking the market by storm. Already, two rivals have fallen before coming to market. HP's Win7 iPad-Like Tablet has been Cancelled. and Microsoft's Courier looks like it will be abandoned.

Will the iPad crush it's remaining rivals? Has Google left it too late for it's own Google Tablet? It remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, the iPads competitors will have to appeal to every generation to have a chance of knocking it off its perch!
